The antenna and radome platform is used to hold and support antennas of all sizes and shapes. Before the antenna platform, it is important to know what an antenna is.
An antenna is a metal dish or rod that captures radio waves and converts them into signals. These signals can be used to transmit telephone, radio, telecommunications, GPS and RF signals. It is a large structure with radio or RF antennas on antenna platforms.
The most commonly used type of platform options are Lattice Towers. These towers are vertical and usually have an elongated box shape. The base of these towers is quite wide, but it becomes thinner towards the top. These structures are generally fixed to the base with three to four legs.
Does this structure seem familiar to you? This is probably because the Eiffel Tower, one of the most famous radio towers, is a lattice tower. They can be extremely tall due to too much support at the bottom. There are also stairs inside to ensure the safety of the person working on the platform and to reach the antennas.
Radome is the structure that protects a radar system or antenna. It is manufactured from materials that minimally reduce the electromagnetic signal transmitted or received by the antenna.
It is a weatherproof enclosure. It also hides the antenna from view. Weather radars, intelligence radars, air traffic control and satellite communications are the most used areas.
Radomes can be produced in many shapes and sizes. These electronic antenna enclosures are made of composite materials or flexible air-inflated fabrics. Radomes are used to cover parabolic radar systems and satellite communications antennas.
